A star is born

It took Pépinières Delbard over 10 years of patient and unremitting work, paired with unfailing attention, to create an exceptional fruit, Tentation®: a product ripe with character, both sweet and tangy, truly bursting with flavours that will delight the gourmet’s subtle palate!

It all begun in 1979: Delbard was looking for a means to significantly improve, particularly taste wise, yellow apples of the Golden Delicious type. This led them to adapt their hybridisation programme. 
Two parents were selected: la Grifer (commonly named Blushing Golden), an exceptional variety acknowledged for its excellent gustative qualities, its crunchiness, juiciness and its golden yellow coat and the Golden Delicious, selected for its remarkable agronomical qualities and the perfect shape of its fruit, neither too large nor too small.

Finally, in 1990, after ten years of breeding and patient observation in the Pépinières Delbard’s experimental orchard in Malicorne (Allier), a brand new apple saw the light of day. Its skin is a strong yellow, generally taking on a particularly attractive golden hue and sometimes even an orangey colour. Of medium size, the fruit is scattered with breathing pores and occasionally with ring russets, giving it an authentic and rustic appearance. 
But what makes it really different, is its unique taste: a very specific floral taste, with touches of hazelnut and a light hint of menthol. The texture of this exceptional, firm and tangy apple means that it can be both eaten as such or cooked.  A pure marvel that combines taste and tradition with great talent…

The variety is baptised Delblush and its fruit will now be sold under the brand name Tentation®.
