Apples and health
Diet and health... apples boost your energy
The apple obviously offers many nutritional benefits. As part of a daily diet it can provide a non-negligible and highly varied share of vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
The appetite suppressant fruit by excellence, it stems the appetite with very few calories.
It has a recognised diuretic effect. This is because it is rich in water and potassium, has a low sodium content and contains sorbitol : apples therefore favour the urinary elimination of waste.
As it is rich in fibres, it has a particularly positive effect of the digestive system : its pectin content helps regulate bowel movements. Apples are therefore just as very effective in combating sluggish digestive systems as in treating a tendency towards diahrroea (ref. the classical Heisler-Moro diet, based on raw grated apples in cases of diahrroea).
Above all, it has been demonstrated that the regular consumption of apples (2 to 3 per day) can help to bring down high cholesterol levels and to reduce excessive blood sugar levels. This fruit can therefore play a beneficial role in nutritional balance and prevention.
